Shawn Phillips

Past Board President of Osprey Village

Shawn has lived in the Low Country for the past 13 years and has been looking for a not-for-profit with a mission like that of Osprey Village, Inc. He has a brother with autism who is currently living in a group home in Indiana, and it has been great fun for his brother. He would like someday for his brother to be able to relocate closer to him and his family. OVI would provide this opportunity.

Shawn has been involved in the banking arena for the past 13 years. He is currently the Vice President of SouthState Bank. Because of his previous association with the Okatie Rotary Club, where he has served as Treasurer, Osprey Village was a Platinum Sponsor of the 2010 Okatie Rotary’s Club annual polo match at Rose Hill Plantation. It was at this event that 3000+ attendees were introduced to OVI and heard about its mission and vision. And as an added plus, the Osprey Village polo team WON the match with a goal as time expired.

Shawn graduated from Indiana University from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. He and his wife Jessica, along with their two sons, Connor and Nicholas, reside in Bluffton. Shawn is a very active volunteer in the Bluffton Schools, where he is the co-founder of the Bluffton High School Interact Club which is currently sponsored by the Okatie Rotary Club.

When asked why he wanted to be involved with OVI, Shawn replied, “I am involved with Osprey Village because I know how important it is to have a great group home atmosphere for highly functioning mentally disabled adults. This type of atmosphere has given my brother an opportunity to live independently with some assistance and has taught him many basic everyday duties. I see the importance of this and that is why I wanted to be involved with Osprey Village.” Shawn hopes to assist the board with its mission to provide an independent living environment for highly functioning adults with developmental disabilities in the Low Country.
